2005 City of Antioch Baseline Emissions Inventory
The City recently completed a baseline inventory of Greenhouse gas emissions related to the community as a whole and to the operations of the City of Antioch as a municipal agency. Below are the results of that inventory. |
 |
Community Emissions Graphic:
Transportation is the largest contributor to Greenhouse gasses followed closely by Residential and Commercial properties and their daily operations. |
 |
Municipal Emissions Graphic:
The treatment and transportation of water is the municipalities largest contributor to Greenhouse gasses followed by Streetlights (there are approx. 8,900 city-owned streetlights) and City Facilities (13 Facilities total). |
 |
Govt. vs. Community Graphic:
Government makes up only 3% of total Greenhouse gas emissions. It will take the support of all citizens of Antioch to reduce the City’s overall Greenhouse gas emissions to meet the State of California’s Greenhouse Gas Bill- AB-32 which seeks to reduce the States total Greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2020 (1990 levels) and a much larger 80% by 2050. |
 |
Business as Usual Graphic:
If no action is taken to reduce Antioch’s Greenhouse gas emissions combined with a projected .2% growth-rate for the City- it is expected that Antioch’s total emissions will increase by approx. 75,000 metric tons of Greenhouse gasses by 2020! |
