About APD
The department is comprised of two divisions: Support Services and Field Services. The Field Services Division includes Dispatch, Patrol, Community Policing and Traffic Bureaus. The Support Services Division consists of the Administration, Investigations, Narcotics, Records and Animal Services Bureaus. Antioch has a state of the art 67,000 square foot police facility that features an indoor firing range, weight training and exercise room, spacious locker rooms and a computer aided dispatch system. The department is located downtown at 300 "L" Street, near the Marina. Officers may work in a variety of assignments, including patrol, traffic, community policing, detectives, bicycle patrol, SWAT, and as field training, school resource, and K9 officers. Most of Antioch's training is conducted in-house. Officers with special expertise may apply for and become instructors. These officers will provide training in the areas of first aid, baton training, weaponless defense, firearms, narcotic enforcement and hazardous materials handling. Our Field Services Division works on a team concept and features a modified 4-10 schedule which allows patrol officers to enjoy every other weekend off and facilitates a minimum of 10 hours training on a monthly basis. This schedule also allows monthly training of specialized units. As we continue to grow and welcome new members, we are proud of the fact that the department and its employees maintain a sense of teamwork and family.
