Animal Services is dedicated to promoting animal welfare and public awareness which results in humans and animals living together in harmony.
The Antioch Animal Services Center is responsible for the enforcement of Local and State Laws relating to the care, control, and protection of animals and of our citizens. Officers' responsibilities include picking up and confining stray, sick, injured, vicious and dead animals; issuance of dog licenses; patrolling the City streets; control of animal nuisance problems and animal euthanasia. The Animal Shelter also provides adoption, volunteer, and education programs.
HOLIDAY CLOSURE REMINDER:
Antioch Animal Services will be closed to the public on Monday, February 18, 2013 and Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in observation of Washington's Birthday and our regular closure day. We will re-open again on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 10:00am.
In the event of an animal emergency, please call the Antioch Police Department at (925) 778-2441.
Although we are closed to the public, rest assured that the animals at the Shelter are still being well taken care of as Animal Care Attendants and Volunteers are working through the holiday to clean, feed and water the animals. As well, an Animal Control Officer is on stand-by 24 hours a day to handle any emergency animal calls in the field.

Announcement:
The City of Antioch is happy to announce the hiring of a Rescue Coordinator at the Antioch Animal Shelter. Revenues received from the Maddie’s Fund Grant will be used to pay for this position in full. This employee will work 30 hours per week. The primary duties of the position will be to coordinate with rescues and other organizations throughout the greater bay area in an effort to increase the shelter’s adoption rate as well as the number of animals accepted by rescues. Furthermore, this position will be responsible for developing and formalizing an Animal Fostering Program. It is anticipated these efforts will help reduce the percentage of animals euthanized at the shelter.

Maddie’s Match Maker Adoptathon
The City of Antioch is happy to announce that Antioch Animal Services participated in the “Maddie’s Match Maker Adoptathon” on June 12th and June 13th of 2010.
Staff spent many hours putting together pictures and paperwork, as well as, getting Shelter Animals ready for their new forever homes. In addition to keeping the Shelter open an extra day, off-site mobile adoptions took place at Petsmart in both Antioch and Pittsburg.
A total of 76 animals were adopted at this popular and successful event. |

Licenses for dogs owned by senior citizens approved by the City of Antioch are licensed at a discount of 50% of the above rates. Microchips for dogs and cats – $22.00 Antioch residents, Non-residents $27.00, includes microchip implant and registration on the Animal Shelter database. Pet owners may additionally register their pets directly with HomeAgain Pet Recovery by sending $14.99 annually.
A Late Fee of $33.00 will be added when applicable.
